The project was the build of a 4 pump automated petrol filling station with associated car park works at the ASDA store within the market town of Retford.
The site that this new PFS sits was previously used as an overflow car park for the ASDA store. The car park was unsightly with pot holes, loose stones and had no lighting. The car park is now fully surfaced with clearly marked parking spaces, a designated safe walkway for customers and pedestrians who are accessing the park or town centre. The car park also benefits from new lighting throughout to fully light the car park to enhance the overall health and safety for the public.
The scheme involved modification works to the existing highways. Therefore GPS liaised directly with highways to ensure that the all works were fully signed off and undertaken in accordance with all the highways recommendations.
As part of this scheme it was decided that to make it fully accessible to the public, all raised kerbs would be designed out and instead be white lined creating a level access with bollards to provide further protection.
